Sustainable Development Goals and the Post-2015 Development Agenda

The United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) and Tokyo Institute of Technology cordially invite you to the symposium "Sustainable Development Goals and the Post-2015 Development Agenda" to be held at UNU headquarters in Tokyo on 16 January 2015.
As we near the deadline of the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in 2015, the global post-2015 development agenda ? which will address challenges remaining after the MDGs and the Sustainable Development Goals, which must also respond to various emerging issues ? is currently under discussion. The new goals are expected to be adopted at the UN General Assembly in September 2015.
This event aims to report on ongoing discussions regarding the post-2015 developmet agenda, consider possible goals and targets towards 2030 and look into indicators to assess the progress of their implementation. It will also address implementation challenges faced at the global and national levels, which will lead to discussion of sustainable collaboration between the science community, local governments and the private sector.
This event will be held as part of the Japanese Ministry of the Environment's S-11 Environment Research and Technology Development Fund on POST2015.
Japanese-English simultaneous interpretation will be provided.

国連大学サステイナビリティ高等研究所（UNU-IAS）と東京工業大学（環境省環境研究総合推進
費S-11）は、2015年1月16日（金）に「持続可能な開発目標（SDGs）とポスト2015年開発アジェンダ～国際論議の現状と実施へ向けた課題」と題した公開シンポジウムを開催します。
ミレニアム開発目標（MDGs）の達成期限である2015年以降の国際開発目標として、2015年9月の
国連総会で「ポスト2015年開発アジェンダ」が採択される予定です。MDGsで積み残された課題に
加え、2000年以降深刻化した新たな課題に対応すべく「持続可能な開発目標（SDGs）」が統合さ
れ、全ての国を対象とした国際目標が決定されます。本シンポジウムでは、これに関連する国内
外での議論や交渉の最新動向について報告を行い、2030年目標、ターゲット、それらの進捗を測
る指標のあり方を考えます。また、関連する国際・国内政策実施へ向けた課題を検討することで、科学および自治体、企業などとの持続可能な連携のあり方について議論を行います。
本イベントは、日本語から英語への同時通訳があります。
