New EJG Issue Published 

The latest issue of the European Journal of Geography has been published and is available for free download at http://www.eurogeographyjournal.eu. The issue has articles on Italian smart tourism, urban green space network evaluation, changing water bus routes, visual qualities of future geography textbooks, integrating tour maps in education, geo-teachers attitudes towards self-evaluation and an analysis of school excursions.

EUROGEO’s new member organization, Mapita, has been a forerunner in changing public participation practices in urban development contexts and making local resident insight a more integral element in planning processes. "MYGEOSS" Smart App Call  

The European Commission (DG RTD and JRC)  launched an open call for the development of innovative applications (mobile or web-based) using openly available or crowd-generated data in different domains addressing citizens’ needs. The focus is on developing applications that will provide users with quantitative or qualitative information on the changing environment, e.g. change detection in climate, biodiversity, water bodies, coastal areas, built environment, green areas, forestry, agricultural land and crops, and atmospheric composition. Deadline for submitting application concept, prototype, or user story is 30 April. More

Statistics Course For Educators

EUROGEO is a partner in the EU funded I-Use Project. I-Use developed ready made lesson materials and a toolbox for educators to easily create their own statistics learning activities. The project will hold an in service teacher training course in Copenhagen, 7-10 September 2015 If you would like to attend, all information is available at http://i-use.eu/resources/courses.html  European educators can apply for Erasmus + KA1 grants from the European Commission to attend. More

SPACIT Courses Available

EUROGEO was a partner in the SPACIT (education for spatial citizenship) project, coordinated by the Department of Geo-Informatics of the University of Salzburg. The concept of spatial citizenship was developed for secondary teaching and in-service training to combine geography, political education and Web 2.0 technologies. The goal was to create online and F2F courses to equip teachers with the relevant competencies necessary through the everyday use of geo-media technologies. The course can be downloaded from the project Web site. More 



EUROGEO Conference 2015 

"Communicating Geography: serving our world" 21-22 May 2015



The 2015 EUROGEO Annual Meeting and Conference will be organised in conjunction with and hosted by the Turkish Association of Geographers (TAG), in Ankara on 21-22 May 2015. An optional field excursion to Cappadocia will take place all day on 23 May 2015. You can still register to participate.. More
